Hi Jenny,
ReplyDeleteWow that is some amazing blog candy.
Well as I noticed that it had gone over 5000.....here goes my entry...
I do nothing specific when I make a card, sometimes its the stamp I choose then I go from there but more lately I have been looking at my paper stash choosing a piece of paper then some card stock to go with it, layer that up then choose a design to go on top
I am quite an organised person (usually) so I will be interested in peoples replies to see how they do it
Thanks for the great raffle Jenny
I believe I will be number 1 ( wow 2 x number 1 things in the same week hee hee )
Hugs
Janette
Well it all depends Jenny. If I have just received a new SU stamp set from an Ebay seller that I have won, then I choose the stamp first, decide the colour then decide what paper, if any, that I will use. If I decide that I will use a ribbon as well, then find I haven't got the correct colour and I can't get out then I change the colour all over again. I must admit I like using SCS sketches as it is much easier than thinking up a design at a moments notice. Thanks for given us this opportunity to win something. You are the best, as are Sharon and Janette. guess my number will be 2?
ReplyDeleteMary x
Hi Jenny
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to enter.
I am quite new to stamping and my methods change all the time. At the moment I check out all the blogs in my favourites to get some inpiration, and then I choose a page layout that I think I can work with. I then choose the paper and look for embellishments in my stash that will co-ordinate with the paper. Then I put it all together!
Thanks for sharing!
Ooooo, I've got to have a go too!
ReplyDeleteNow let me see...... I tend to have a session stamping images, then another session for colouring using various methods, then it's another session cutting out or punching etc They then go in my 'to be mounted box'. After that it's yet another session when I match the image to a background/layout (like Mary I have found the SCS sketches very useful - thank you for pointing me in that direction Jenny), I store them all in bags with all necessary components etc to complete card another day. Of course this all changes when I've got a special card to do - I just panic then, usually leaving it till the last minute!!!!
(that reminds me I've got to do a special one before next week - so I shall just have to try and do it early, huh well I'll try anyway!)
Great blog Jenny and well done on reaching 5000.
That makes me number 4 :-)
Hugs Christine
Congrats on hitting 5k! I just recently discovered your blog through Beate. I'd love to be entered in the drawing!
ReplyDeleteWhen I make a card, I usually start with the stamp set I want to use and go from there; or sometimes I have an idea in mind of the type of card I need. It seems like they're always for men and I hardly have any masculine stamps. Ugh, need to get more!
I'm #5!
Congrats on over 5000 hits.
ReplyDeleteThat is some great blog candy Jenny!
When I am making a card I start with my stamp, them my cs, paper for layering, inks and colouring method then brads and ribbon. When I have selected my stamp I usually have a good idea what I am going to make but sometime I like to change my mind if I have bought something new.
I'm number 6!
When I make a card, the first thing I do is look at all my " supplies" and brainstorm for an idea...then I just let me creativity flow and see what i end up with! Sometimes it looks good, other times I trash it and start over. Creativity is a strange thing!!! LOL!

ReplyDeleteHi to you. I usually start with a sketch or challenge when making my cards. This way is less stressful. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteHi Jen,
ReplyDeleteWell done on reaching 5000 hits. I'm not surprised though - it is a great blog site and you always do make such lovely cards!
When I am mkaing card I usually decide on the stamp first and then think about the colour next. Obviously if I am making a card for a specific person then I try to chose their favourite colour. (if not, then it tends to be pink!).
I then use whatever ribbons or embellishments I have in that colour theme.
I guess I will be number 8.
Keep up the great work.
Love Trace x
Hi again Jen,
ReplyDeleteNow am I number 8 or am I number 9?
Jodene didn't put a number on her post and neither did Mandee.

ReplyDeleteI normally start with a stamp that I want to work with. For me stamping is a very relaxing hobby so there is never any rush to get finished and I rarely plan ahead. Many times I will change an embelishment a couple of times before I get the results that I like. As far as the layout goes I might create that with scrap paper before I actually use my good cardstock so I don't waste it. I love to do the SCS challenges and the Sketch challenge is my favorite so if I am doing that I kind of work backwards from my norm.
ReplyDeleteI guess that makes me #11 ?

Yummy Blog Candy!!
ReplyDeleteI usually Chose layout first
Then colors
Then image
Then embellishments
most times this works for me but sometimes i choose the color or image first.
Congrats and your huge milestone!!
Congrats on 5000 WOW...I am a simple card maker and scrapbooker for that matter. I usually am inspired first by a stamp then by color... I do like DP that jumps out at me like SU cutie pie. I am fairly new to SCS so now, I seem to look for the layout challenges to help with a new look. TFS!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Babe! You are such an awesome stamper!!!
ReplyDeleteEverytime I stamp, it's always something different. Sometimes it's the paper, sometimes it's the colors and sometimes it's just a stamp set I want to use. I'm unorganized and always use whatever is out on my desk at the moment.
Man.... I LOVE your style!!
~C
I usually get inspired by a card or a layout I have seen on a blog that day. Then I try to use a stamp that I'd like to see some ink. Then I pick the patterned paper and then the CS. TFS!
ReplyDeleteJenny you ROCK! What an amazing celebration sweet candy giveaway you are celebrating with your readers. YOU ROCK! Congrats on your 5000 hits. I would have to say all the above, when I make a card. It depends on what I buy! I'm a blog surfer and love SCS! So if I see something there...which I always do. I have to try it out also. You are going to make 1 stampter very happy when this shows up in the mail....I hope it's ME ME ME! Thanks for a chance a your amazing giveaway.

Hi Jen
ReplyDeleteAbolutely Fab Blog and you'd have to be MAD not to enter for such brill blog candy.
Well you know me it's very much last minute panic when I'm making my cards. Lately I start with a colour combination I want to try (ideas come from all sorts of places, tissue boxes, school bags, etc!!!!), then I have to try and find the right sort of stamps to go with it. OR there's a particular stamp set I want to use like Fishy Friends and the colours just seem to follow on. I would find it quite difficult starting from patterned paper. The sketch idea is great as the layout is there for you already, just have to choose your own stamps, paper, accessories and voila! away you go (when you have the time!).
Keep up the fabulous blog as this has become an enjoyable morning routine - a cup of tea and checking my favourite blogs before I start work for the day.
Hugs Sharon :0) x x x
PS. I think I am Number 20
Dear Jenny,
ReplyDeleteThis is my first visit to your site. Last month I was just learning what a blog is! I have been stamping for about 15 years though.
I love your work. It is very elegant. Loved the Shakespeare Theater pics too!
I usually am inspired by color or mood. Then I dig through my stuff looking for items that that match a color sceme and for stamps that would look good. Sometimes I just want to use something new. Yes, this method takes far too long sometimes.
Thanks for the drawing opportunity.
Terri, (Terriiam@comcast.net)
(I think I am #21)
How do I know for sure what number I am?
When I start a card I pick a sketch first, then I think of a theme unless I am making a card for someone or something in mind. Then I pick out which stamps I want to use then my mind usually takes off from there! Congrats on 5000!
ReplyDeleteI either start with a sketch or a color combo or whatever inspires me to stamp at the moment, but usually something has to jumpstart me! GREAT blog candy!
ReplyDeleteFor me, I have to start with a sketch or some patterned paper I want to try. I love blog challenges and I try to particpate in as many as I can because I find it really jumpstarts my creativity.
ReplyDeleteHi, Jenny,
ReplyDeleteI usually get an idea from a blog and then select my stamp. Then, it often takes a long time to decide on the prettiest paper to use. I'm a paper freak and have a huge stash. Thanks for the chance to win awesome blog candy!
OMG!!! That candy is truely fabulous!!! When I make a card, I chose a sketch first. I'm horrible at coming up with my own designs, so I look online for the sketch, then the colors, then the stamp. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCheryl KVD
Congrats on the hits! I usually choose the stamp and color it with no regard for what layout or patterned paper I want to use. this sometimes gets me into trouble. When I choose my paper and layout first it usually works out better, but old habits die hard! LOL :)
ReplyDeleteBTW...congratulations on your anniversary :)
ReplyDeleteJenny, you have a great blog... love your cards. I found your blog on Beate's blog. If I am not doing a challenge I usually pick the stamp set first, then colors. I think I am #22 or #29, can't keep up with it. :o) TFS!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome site. I just came across it. Congrats on 5000 hits. Lately when I start a card, I try and look at a card sketch for an idea. Then I pick the stamp that I want, and coordinate the colors to go with it!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on reaching 5000 hits and many more to come! I found you from you leaving a comment on my blog today and so glad you did! Your work is beautiful!
Yummy lookin' candy you've got up for offer! Thanks for being so generous!
I guess my way of card making is usually to choose all my patterned paper and cardstock first, then I choose my stamps and embellies. Sometimes I know that I want to use a certain stamp, but I have to know what paper I want to use first. There's somewhat of a method to my madness! lol :)
Hugs,
Julie
P.S. I think I'm post #30
hi jenny,
ReplyDeletei love the color combination of your candy!
when i am making a card, i am usually making it for a specific person. so i usually choose the stamp set first, then the colors he/she would like and go from there. :)
i think i'm #32... thanks for the chance to win!
If I have a specific thing in mind, ie a mans card etc I have a route through my stamps first, then I go trawling for a sketch on Splitcoast, or an idea to work with, then I check out the colours ie what sort of papers I have in my stash then I get creating (hopefully, it doesn't always work that way)!!! lol, fabulous candy
ReplyDelete#34??
ReplyDeleteIt depends who the card is for, but I really like to start out with DP and then coordinate the CS and stamps accordingly.
NancyS (momsnack)
awesome blog candy! The first thing I do is choose my sentiment, then what kind of theme do I want to do around that sentiment.
ReplyDeleteFirst off congrats on the hits!!! Second, I don't make my cards any particular way. Sometimes it's based specifically on what it's for. Then other times it's based on a new stamp, new paper, or embellishment......and such. Other times it is all about who I'm stamping with!
ReplyDeleteHey Jenny,
ReplyDeleteI usually start with the stamp. It uaually all comes from there. I then get all the paper I need (cut to size). Then I stamp the imiage. The last thing I do is tape it all together. The hardest part for me is finding a saying to go on the inside of the card.
#37 here
ReplyDeleteVery interesting question. I haven't every really taken the time to consider this, until now. I believe I choose the stamp first. After that I decide what type of background I will use or make. Then I decide on the colors. Occasionally I pick the card stock first, especially if I have some I just "have" to use. Thanks for this offer.
I start with a stamped, colored image. Then I match papers, embellishments. Usually it turns out completely different that what I had intended!
ReplyDeleteYour counter says 38 comments are posted, so I must be #39!
What fun blog candy! Congrats on 5,000!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I make a card I pick a layout first usually then a stamp set and then colors. For colors I will look through my patterned papers first to see if there is anything I like and then try to match paper to that.
When you are making a card, How do you go about it?
ReplyDeleteIt all depends but I start with the stamps, papers then color papers, then embellishments. Thanks for a chance to win some awesome candy!!
Wow! Yummy blog candy! When I make a card I usually start with the stamp set. Then I decide on the layout, pick my card stock & paper and finally my embellishments.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all the hits:)
ReplyDeleteWell I just started out so right now it depends on two things: the theme and the stamps I have. I am starting out with making thank you and christmas cards, for the latter I choose colours first:)
Hope you have a nice week! I think I am number 43:)
I love your blog and congratulate you on the 5,000 well deserved hits! Your guestions are great but I don't ever follow the same format so I can't answer them as well as I'd like. I never know what will inspire me. Some days I see a piece of paper and an idea of what I picture on it comes to me. Other days I see the stamp first and then find colors or paper that suit the stamp. I may get inspiration from others, but I love originality and never case others work.
ReplyDeleteNice blog and candy!
ReplyDeleteWell, I frequently pick a stamp I want to use and go from there - I'll look at the paper I have around, pick colors, find embellishments/words to go with the stamp, and get to work! Sometimes, if it's a special occasion or for someone specific, that tells me which stamp I want to use.
How I create depends on my inspiration ... sometimes I have an image I want to use, so I go in search of a sketch ... other times I have a sketch in mind and go in search of an image. Sometimes I can see the entire creation in my mind ... other times I start with a single element or technique and develop it as I go.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog candy! I don't have one certain way that I always go about making a card but usually I pick the stamp I want to use first and then the colors of my cs and go from there. Sometimes I will surf some blogs or SCS to get my creative juices flowing but usually I don't have anything in mind.
ReplyDelete"CONGRATULATIONS"...on your 5000+ hits. I don't have a set routine
ReplyDeletewhen making a card. I Might find a great paper that I want to use and that would be my start or I might have a stamp that I want to use and that would be my start. I think picking a color would be my start.I get a lot of inspiration from Blogs..forums..magazines.
Thanks for the chance to WIN your Amazing Blog Candy.
The number count is messed up...
according to the comment counter,I will be # 46......lol
I start with the stamp set and then the colors, when it comes togetehr it is easy to see embellishments.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm #50! :) Well, since I'm not a creative person, I usually have to start off with someone else's creation to look at. I'm hoping to get my own mojo soon! lol
ReplyDelete#51 Hi Jenny, congrats on all your blog hits! It really depends on how I start a card: sometimes the stamp set, but most times it is either a particular color scheme or a sketch design. I seem to be most successful with the sketch designs because they jumpstart me. I start of following it exactly, and then the card takes on a life of its own. Thanks for the chance to win a great blog candy package.
ReplyDeleteI'm a total copycat, so I typically have to look at someone else's creations in online forums and galleries to decide what to do. I wish I was more original, but I'm sure it'll come with time and practice practice practice. Thanks for the candy op!
ReplyDeleteI tend to pull out a scrap from the bucket or drawer and see what I can come up with. SOmetimes it will have a stamp and sometimes a sticker or rub on. but I always try to use a scrap first before I look elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteafter that, I see how many scraps I can pair up to it including ribbons.
Congrats on 5000 hits :)
ReplyDeleteWhen making a card I will choose the stamp first and then it all goes from there.
#55 here. Thank you for the chance at your generous blog candy and congratulations on 5,000!!! I am a blue freak, so now wondering where I can get those pretty papers, never seen the dovecraft.
ReplyDeleteI usually start with an image I want to do, and will spend hours colouring with rp's, or watercolouring or etc., then my torture begins!!! LOL. I don't have the end vision in sight, so out come all my colous of cs and layering papers, trying to get ideas and colours to make the image pop...I think I stamp backwards possibly?? sometimes it takes forever and I make a gigantic mess! :))))))))) sometimes I wish I had the whole organized vision from the start I must admit. Happy Day :)
Great blog candy! I do tend to pick the stamp first, then the paper. Then I arrange the paper on the card. When I get the arrangement I like, I add the stamped image. Congratulations on the hits!
ReplyDelete57!
ReplyDeleteI just wing it! I pick out whatever stamps appeal to me that day and for whatever occasion I am making the card, and run with it! Congrats on the hits!
http://isittuesdayyetma.blogspot.com/
ccol blog, just discovered it from Julee's Mojo challenge. Congrats on the 19 years of marriage. My son went to London this past summer and had so much fun. I am going to bookmark your blog too...Thanks for the chance & congrats on all the hts.
ReplyDeleteI always start by picking out my stamps first, then go from there. But of course, sooooo much inpsiration comes from Splitcoast! Thanks for the time you put into this great blog!
ReplyDeleteHi, Just found your blog this morning! Thanks for the contest! I usually start with paper and ribbon and then figure out what stamp I'll use. Unless I start with a stamp first and then figure out what paper and ribbon to use. Or sometimes. . ..:-)
ReplyDeleteHow do I go about making a card. I usually start with a theme, then pick a stamp/stamp set then on to colors of card stock. From there I add inks and embelishments.
ReplyDeleteFor me, it depends on the person I'm making it for. I go with a theme that reminds me of their interest. Then I pick the stamp or embellishment that will go with the theme. Then the rest just falls into place. Congrats on 5,000 hits!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on hitting 5000. I guess I would have to say that I start making a card by theme. Then I go to that particular stamp drawer and decide what stamps I will use. Next would be the base color for the card and ink color to match and then the layering colors. Lastly, and the hardest for me, would be the embellishments.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You have a wonderful blog. I made a card based on what kind of mood I'm in and what the card is for. Usually I try to find some patterned paper that is calling me and go from there, sometimes it's an embellishment I want to use.
ReplyDeleteClaudia
that is some sweet candy love the brads!!!!
ReplyDeletewhen I make a card I most offton start with one element it could be anything most of the time it is the ribbon from there it all kind of falls in to place. If I find that I am blocked it realy help when I clean up and just play with all of my stamps move things from one shelf to another clean up scrap ribbon and just make every thing all tighty. when I do this I find stuff that I just had to have and forgot about it realy gets me going again not only that I know what needs to go on the stamp and craft shopping list!!! I am good for about ten to fifteen projects after a good cleaning!!!!!
It really depends. Sometimes I am working on a sketch challenge, so I try to find a stamp image that fits the shape in the sketch. If I am working with Design Team product, I'm starting with paper or stamps and I let the mood of that direct where to start. Then other times, I just plain need a card to send out in the mail (usually yesterday!) so I work from that angle. I guess I'm kinda all over the place with my starting points. LOL
ReplyDeleteFirst off what AMAZING blog candy. Thank you so much for giving us all a chance to win!!!
ReplyDeleteI usually pick out my paper first, then my stamp set, then my colors. I like to try to co-ordinate my ink with my papers which is why I have to choose my paper or ink first to match each other. lol!
Thanks again!!! Your blog candy is delicious!!!
Congratulations on 5,000 hits Jenny!! When I make a card I choose a stamp or other image first, then choose my paper/card to co-ordinate and finish with plenty of ribbon or other embellishments. Great candy! I think I'm #68.
ReplyDeleteOHHHHHH, such generous blog candy. You are too sweet. How do I constuct my card? I think that depends on what kind of card I am creating. If it has an immediate purpose with a recipient in mind I usually start with a stamp set. If I am just randomly creating a card I go with color for inspiration.... if it is a challenge I let the outline of the challenge direct me...
ReplyDeletethanks for the chance to win...you have a great blog site...
anette648@yahoo.com
love, love, love your sleighride card! That is the cutest bear stamp ever!!
ReplyDeleteI am trying a new method for my Sept swap cards...
I found gorgeous plaid paper at Michael's, so I am coordinating the whole card around those colors on my leaf images. I think it will look very pulled-together :)
Thanks so much for the great blog candy contest!
Hi Jenny - Just found your blog and must say your cards are so artistically put together! Right now I'm in crisis mode - meaning I'm not doing cards unless I need it that very day. So, depending on the occasion for the card, I pick a stamp set and then decide what from my stash I want to work with colorwise and technique wise. This really doesn't work well for me because I want to do every technique in every color and use every cool tool i have!!!!
ReplyDeleteKaren
congratulations and thanks so much for a chance at the awesome candy!!
ReplyDeletei go about it in a couple of ways... find a stamp that i really like and build around it, get inspiration from a color combination i see (on clothes, other cards, etc) and go from there, or build from a paper i really like.
thanks again
Charity
Congrats on all the hits!
ReplyDeleteI don't have one set way to start a card. Sometimes I start with a theme in mind, and sometimes I start with papers (or photos or embellishments) that I want to use and create a card around them. I rarely use stamps, though.
Hi Jenny,
ReplyDeleteFrom one Blogger starting out to another buiding up her hits .... congratulations on a sucessful site and what great Blog Candy.
Its been a while since I last made a batch of cards, but generally I find that the type of occassion and time of year starts my inspiration off. I'm stimulated by colour, so tend to lend my hand simultaniously to colour and stamp/embellishment choice.
I hope when I'm fully back on the crafting mat, to be able to share a more comprehensive method.
Until then ... I do believe I'm #74
Congratulations and what a lovely idea.
ReplyDeleteMine depends on why I'm making the card. If it's for a specific occassion, I tend to design the card round the person and what sort of thing they like. Otherwise it is normally if I have new goodies to play with or if I have seen something that has inspired my in a mag or on someones blog.
Since I have started blogging, I also like trying my hand a challenges, as I can play it a bit safe and this tends to push me a bit more!
Hello, When I make a card I choose the rubberstamp first as that makes the card for me. Then i choose the paper next. It can funky paper or nice looking but I never know what it will be, or I might stamp it myself if I don't like what I have and the stamps I have are what I like then the stamps become the paper itself. after that is where I have a hard time deciding embellishing as it harder for me so i don't know if I doing it right or if it ugly or nice?? This is where my hardest my hardest time comes for me but I keep on trying as i love stamping. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for leaving a comment on my blog jenny. I had Freckled Fun create my banner for me. You have some awesome art work yourself.
ReplyDeleteI personally create most of my cards by casing. I feel like that's cheating but its how I at least get inspired.
Oh my goodness that is one load of blog candy. Thanks. When I am working on a card I first look over all my individual and SU stamps to see what "speaks to me" at that moment. From there I determine what style of card will suit and then I dive into my load of paper.
ReplyDelete
